Shirley Rose (Wolf) Ferguson, age 83, of Flora, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.
Shirley was born August 14, 1931 in Washington, Indiana to Delbert George Wolf and Nola Romain (Leonard) Wolf. She married Robert T. Ferguson on October 2, 1949 and together they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Shirley attended Flora Grade School and was a graduate of Flora High School. During her working years, she was employed at Chaney Cleaners, Four Sisters Manufacturing, and Sears. Throughout her life, Shirley was very supportive to Bob in his many community endeavors. Her memberships included First Christian Church, the Beau Knot Sunday School Class of the church, and Daughters of the American Revolution. Shirley will be remembered as a devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
Surviving is her husband: Robert T. Ferguson of Flora; two daughters: Barbara Ann (Pete) Schmit and Tammy Starr (Tom) Chase; six grandchildren: Dan Schmit, Peter (Beth) Schmit, Brian (Bekah) Schmit, Katie Schmit, Tommy Chase, and Taylor Ann Chase; five great-grandchildren: Grayson Schmit, Bailey Schmit, Wesley Schmit, Peter Schmit, and Clara Schmit; a sister: Audrey (Paul) Slater of Mt. Vernon; and a sister-in-law: Jean Wolf. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and brother-in-law: Violet and Don Stopher, and two brothers: Dale and Junior Wolf.
A funeral service for Shirley Ferguson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Bro. Bob: Our hearts are with you --- losing your mate of so many years. Shirley is at rest now in that house not made with hands. God will be with you in your remaining years and your Church & Masonic teachings will comfort you. Barb and Tammy - I am so sorry for your loss. Shirley was DEFINITELY one of a kind. Spent many hours at your house teaching Tammy how to walk and making life interesting for Bob & Shirley. We have gone through so many moments moments together - good and bad.You are in my prayers and my thoughts. To Barb Remember "You got a Friend"!
