Zazel O. Kinnaman, Jr., age 86, of Flora, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2015, at his home in Flora.
Zazel was born May 25, 1929, in Clay County to Zazel O. Kinnaman Sr. and Mildred (Martin) Kinnaman. He married Ilene Pennington on June 27, 1953 in Flora. Zazel was a self-employed carpenter and cabinet maker, worked for Best Homes in Effingham, and also did oil field work. He joined the U.S. Army in 1951 and was proud to be a member of the Flora American Legion Post #14. Zazel was affiliated with the Flora First Church of God, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He spent many hours working in his true hobby, which was literally anything to do with wood, including crafting intricate matchstick models.
He is survived by his wife: Ilene Kinnaman of Flora; children: Benjamin Ray Kinnaman of Sterling, Lora (Jim) Neal of Erlanger, KY, and Lesa A. Bond of Fort Branch, IN; one sister: Rose Mills of Rock Falls; one brother: Dean Kinnaman of Sterling; one half-sister: Jackie Lyons of Alma; one half-brother: Roger Kinnaman of Missouri; along with 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Benny Joe, and one half-brother: Melvin Kinnaman.
A funeral service for Zazel Kinnaman Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, August 21, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Cisne Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday where friends may call from 12 (Noon) until the hour of service. Memorial donations may be given to First Church of God and will be accepted at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent at www.frankandbright.com.

Got to know Zazel when he worked at our house. He was a good guy but never knew the family that well. He will be sadly missed. Prayers for the family.

Sorry to hear about your Dad. Has been many years since I have seen him, but definitely remember the days you all living across from my Grandma and Grandpa Schroeder. Always thought of him as a tough guy, and he always friendly to me. God bless you all!!
