Donna Jean Uebinger, age 79, of Flora, Illinois, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015, at her home in Flora.

Donna was born on June 20, 1936 in Xenia, Illinois, the daughter of Edgar and Lelia (Rush) Lee.  She married James L. Uebinger on June 3, 1956 in Flora.  He preceded her in death on January 20, 2015.

Donna was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Flora, sharing her musical talents, playing the piano and organ for many years.  She passed her love of music on to her children and grandchildren.  She enjoyed writing, contributing articles for the newspaper, and writing her blog.  She also enjoyed camping as a member of the “Lucky Ramblers” camping club.  Earlier in her life, she worked as a legal secretary for several prominent area attorneys before focusing her attention as owner/operator of three successful area businesses with her husband Jim. They retired in 2004 to relax and travel while maintaining their roots in the Clay County community.

Donna is survived by her children: Brad L. Uebinger of Indianapolis, IN, Shari S. (Uebinger) Harvey and husband Jeff of Flora, James B. “Brent” Uebinger and wife Tammy of Flora; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; sister: Ruby (Lee) Warren of Flora; and a brother: Robert “Bob” Lee of Georgia.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and one sister.

A funeral service for Donna Uebinger will be held at 12 (Noon) Thursday, September 3, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Charles Warger officiating.  Interment will be in the Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery, Flora.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Thursday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.  Donna requested casual attire for those attending.  Memorial donations may be given to the First Baptist Church of Flora or Clay County Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to www.frankandbright.com.

Oh, Donna, Donna was a member of our church and I always told her how I enjoyed her music on the piano - as she played beautifully, it was such a joy to listen to her magic fingers. Donna had a wonderful sense of humor and laughter came easy, I was often with Donna in the choir room laughing as we were the last to put our robes on the hangers, sharing silly laughter. I just knew Donna would get better. I hate to learn that she has left the earth, I will miss her funny little notes that she has sent to me in the mail. Donna shared her talents here on earth - and I know her music and laughter are ringing in the halls of heaven. Maybe her magic music fingers will play the harp now, she would laugh at that!! :) We offer our heart-felt condolence to Shari, Brad, Brent, grandchildren and Bob

Shari, Brent, and Brad, I send my deepest sympathy to all your family on the loss of your mother. She was a sweet, wonderful lady. She had been part of my life since we were classmates at Flora High School. She was so bright and witty even then, and it continued throughout her life. She will be missed, but she is relieved of the pain that she had endured for many years. I am thinking of you and sending up prayers for comfort and strength in the days and weeks ahead.
