Marilyn Jane Cain, age 85, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Marilyn was born October 8, 1930 in Effingham to Charles O. and Thelma Isabel (Leonard) Stanford. She married James R. Cain on February 5, 1950 in Flora. He preceded her in death on May 26, 2009. Marilyn attended Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO and also the University of Illinois. She then married and began raising her family. She worked in sales at Jacobson’s and several other locations, retiring in Clearwater, FL. Marilyn was an avid reader, enjoying books and frequent trips to the Flora library. She loved cats, especially her beloved cat “Sissy”, was a wonderful gardener, and enjoyed the music of Willie Nelson.
She is survived by her children: Jeffrey A. Cain of Arlington Heights, David G. Cain of Ferndale, MI, Elise (Mark) Slater of Waterford, MI, and Harold S. Cain of Xenia; daughter-in-law: Pearl Cain of Locust Grove, OK; brother: Charles (Norma) Stanford of Flora; sister: Rebecca Stocke of Flora; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 1 expected great-grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and one son: Richard S. Cain.
A memorial service for Marilyn Cain will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 1 p.m. until time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Memorial donations may be given to Flora Public Library and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Becky, C.O., and Norma My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time of loss. Marilyn was such a sweet lady and I always enjoyed being around her. I know your hearts are heavy at this time but you have wonderful memories of time spent with her that will help you through this time. Prayers for all.
Praying that the heavy grief now felt by the family will be replaced with loving memories.
