John Dale Dunnigan, age 77, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 5, 2015, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
John was born November 10, 1938 in Flora, the son of Bernard Charles “Chief” Dunnigan and Mary Ellen (Thompson) Dunnigan. He married Caroline J. “Connie” Perrine on February 14, 1957 in Flora. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1993.
John worked for Sparton Manufacturing as a technician for 37 years. He and Connie enjoyed vacationing and riding his Goldwing motorcycle. Planting a garden was everything to John and he took great pride in his yard. He was a #1 Dallas Cowboy fan, enjoyed watching John Wayne and Clint Eastwood western movies, and had fond memories of Ford Town USA. John’s favorite family occasions were spending the holidays with grandkids.
He is survived by his daughter: Karen (Mark) Donoho of Bluford; a son: Kevin Dunnigan of Flora; two brothers: Richard (Barbara) Dunnigan of Flora and Bernard (Catherine) Dunnigan of Flora; two sisters-in-law: Arlene Dunnigan of Geff and Mary Lou Wright of Belleville; 5 grandchildren: Jonathan Bullard of Fairfield, Jennifer Bullard (Roger) Collins of Fairfield, Travis Humphrey of Bluford, Jedidiah Dunnigan of Effingham, and Geoffrey Dunnigan of Flora; four step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and one expected great-grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and two brothers: Charles and Leo Dunnigan.
A funeral service for John Dunnigan will be held 11 a.m. Monday, December 7, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with visitation from 10 a.m. until service time on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery, Flora. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

My late father-in-law, Bill Hower, and I had the pleasure of knowing and working with John at Sparton Mfg. for several years. My sincere condolences to the family.

Sorry to hear about John’s passing. I have thought about him hundreds of times over the years. John and I were the only two nighttime press operators at Sparton's in 1969 & 1970. I enjoying working with John immensely. I had not seen John since I went in the service and 1970.

So sorry for your loss! I remember John and Connie from years ago when my Dad (Thad Dunnigan!and Millie) and Mom were still alive. John was a nice man. I worked at Spartons with John also. So sorr Karen and Kevin?
