Catherine Mae Overstreet, age 91, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2015, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Katie was born September 24, 1924, in Bible Grove, the daughter of Raymond D. and Lela (Brooks) Lewis. She celebrated 67 years of marriage with her husband, Charles E. Overstreet, whom she exchanged wedding vows with on July 9, 1943, in St. Louis, Missouri. Charles passed away December 7, 2010.
Katie worked for First National Bank in Flora for 24 years. She had been a member of Flora First United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3999 Auxiliary and American Legion Post 14 Auxiliary, and the Nu Phi Mu Sorority. She loved her grandchildren with her whole heart, attending school activities and not ever missing a ballgame, sharing laughter when playing cards and fishing, and readily sledding down the hill with them every snowy winter alongside all the children at Charley Brown Park.
She is survived by a son: Patrick Overstreet of Athens, Georgia; a daughter: Nikki Lake (husband Tom) of Flora; a sister: Roberta Watkins of Cleveland, Georgia; 3 grandchildren: Liz Holman, Erin McGrew (husband Kodie), and Jordan Lake; and 4 great-grandchildren: Izabel and Eli Holman, and Kollan and Riley McGrew. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers: Eugene Lewis, Leon Lewis and Raymond Lewis Jr.; and 4 sisters: Lucille Weishar, Erma Butcher, Marjorie Stewart, and Marie Lewis.
A funeral service for Katie Overstreet will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Flora Public Library and will be received at the funeral home. Katie was a near neighbor to me for many years, and a very nice lady. She will be missed br many!

So sorry for your loss Patrick. We all loved Aunt Katie,she had the sweetest laugh and was always nice to us. I remember many times when her and Uncle Charlie would come to our home all dressed up in their great Halloween costumes. I will miss her. She was a Special Lady.
