Ruth McCormack, age 78, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. She was born on March 8, 1937, in Clay County to Carl W. and Helen M. (Sehie) Staley. She married Hubert V. McCormack at the First Christian Church on April 8, 1962, who survives.
Ruth is also survived by two sons: Richard (Donna) McCormack of Clay City and Danny (Denise) McCormack of Salem; a daughter: Tina McCormack of Flora; a brother: William E. “Bill” (Nikki) Staley of Energy; a sister: Linda K. (fiancée Garry Clawson) Sheley of Hamilton, Ohio; an aunt: Emma (Sehie) Patterson of Lexington, Kentucky; grandchildren: Blake (Daphne) McCormack of Xenia, Malerie (Corey) Knop of Flora, Alyssa and Olivia McCormack of Salem; step-grandchildren: Sarah Hayes of Muncie, Indiana, Samantha (Austin) Walker of Flora, Amanda (Luke) Wasion-Czyzewski of Flora, and Zac Wasion of Flora; great-grandchildren: Brianna, Ashton, and Serena McCormack of Xenia, Madilyn and Gavin Knop of Flora, Jacob and Micah Walker of Anna, and Jake Wasion of Flora; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, homemaker, and an avid reader, especially Amish fiction. She enjoyed country music and also loved watching her favorite shows, "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Voice."
Funeral services for Ruth McCormack will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of service Saturday at the funeral home. The family has requested that memorial donations be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Flora Public Library. Uncle Ruth is what my sister & I called our sweet aunt Ruth. We started it when we were young--it always made her chuckle & laugh... Oh, she had the sweetest laugh... Uncle Ruth, you will be so missed and forever, will you live in our hearts... To all the family, we pray God wrap his loving arms around each one of you; Ruth was your wife, mother, sister, grandmother, friend. Thinking and praying for everyone who will miss Ruth, now and always!!!
