Terry Gidcumb, age 62, of Flora, Illinois, formerly of Mill Shoals, passed away Thursday evening, June 2, 2016.
Terry was born in Fairfield on February 9, 1954, the son of LeRoy and Lorene (Farmer) Gidcumb. He graduated Mills Prairie High School in 1972 and Olney Central College in 1974. Terry married Mary Ellen (Billington) King on December 27, 1980, at McCabe Chapel General Baptist Church in Flora. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2015.
Terry had worked for FS in Mt. Vernon and as an accountant at Sparton Manufacturing and North American Lighting in Flora. He was raised in the West Antioch General Baptist Church of Mill Shoals and was an active member of the McCabe Chapel General Baptist Church in Flora, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher for 28 years. He was also a deacon and trustee of the Union Grove Association.
Terry is survived by his sister: Brenda Kessel and husband Mark of Mill Shoals; nephew: Mikel Kessel and niece: Chasity Kessel both of Mill Shoals; aunts: Gladys Young and Shirley Legg both of Fairfield, and Norma Murphy of Geff; a grandson: Vince King and wife Danielle of Xenia; along with several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and one brother: Timothy Gidcumb.
A funeral service for Terry Gidcumb will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Interment will be in West Antioch Cemetery, Mill Shoals. Memorial donations may be given to McCabe Chapel General Baptist Church or West Antioch General Baptist Church of Mill Shoals and will be accepted at the funeral home.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I worked with Terry when was at Sparton Mfg and he was a wonderful employee to have with the company.
Rest in peace Terry. You have fought a good fight. You were a light of faith as our Sunday School teacher and led us all by example in your life. It was a privilege to know you and sweet Mary Ellen. The church was better for having you in it.
You will be missed.

Terry was such a nice, kind guy. He was very well liked by all who knew him. I worked with him and Mary Ellen at Sparton for many years. So sorry for your loss.

It was truly a pleasure knowing Terry. I worked a few years with him at NAL and then had the priviledge to work with Mary Ellen for the next 7 years at CCHA. They were both a blessing to know and now they are together with no more pain and suffering. Rest in peace Terry.

I worked with Terry at Sparton. We were both in Accounting and in the early days I had the privilege of sharing an office with him for a short time. He was truly a "good guy" and I'll always remember his dry sense of humor. He brightened my days.
