Anita Christine, “Chris” Hosselton, age 57, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, June 28, 2016, at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.
Chris was born April 4, 1959, in Flora, the daughter of Lawrence H. and Mary K. (Brinkley) Kittle. She married Steve Hosselton at Bloom Baptist Church on July 9, 1977, sharing almost 39 years of marriage.
Chris was a member of the Class of ’77 at Flora High School. She went on to work at Flora Bank & Trust when it was first established, N.A.L., Goodman Steel, and Southeastern Illinois Counseling Center in Olney. Chris was a talented seamstress and had sewn from home for 20 years. In 2008, she opened Chris’ Custom Sewing on the Louisville Square, specializing in dresses for school functions and weddings along with doing alterations.
Faith was important to Chris, and as an active member of Bethel Christian Church, she served as song leader for more than 30 years, helped cook and shared duties with the breakfasts, and organized the Thanksgiving meals, where she was known for her homemade noodles.
Chris was initially diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2009. In the fall of 2010, she participated with her daughter and her sisters in the 3-day Komen Walk For The Cure in Dallas, TX. Chris wasn’t afraid to talk to others about her cancer, often sharing her story and words of encouragement, and was actively committed locally to Clay County Cancer Crusaders. She enjoyed traveling, but the grandkids were the center of her world and brought her great joy. Chris will be remembered by many for her smile and courage.
She is survived by her husband: Steve Hosselton of Louisville; children: Kylie Ramos (Daniel) of Laredo, TX and Steve C. Hosselton (Brittani) of Louisville; 8 grandchildren: Michaela Mabe, Christina Mabe, Kaitalynn Ramos, Zanna Mabe, Steven “Joey” Mabe, Mia Walker, Sawyer Hosselton, Beau Christopher Hosselton and 1 more expected grandchild; her mother: Mary Kittle of Flora; her twin brother: Gary Kittle (Sherrie) of Clay City; 3 sisters: Connie Osborne (Gayle) of Newburgh, IN, Brenda Bandy (Carl) of Flora, and Patty Peters (Charlie) of Cisne; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Carroll and Ramona Hosselton of Louisville; a sister-in-law: Pamela Sams (Rick) of Memphis, TN; along with a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; a niece, Andrea Weiler; and a nephew, Ryan Bandy.
A funeral service for Chris Hosselton will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will be in Golden Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be given to Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted at the funeral home.
