Visitation: 4-8 p.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home
Burial: Old Union Cemetery, Louisville
Pam Dulaney Huff (10.11.1952 - 7.6.2016), loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many succumbed to cancer on Wednesday, July 6, 2016. She was officially diagnosed on June 27th with stage 4 pancreatic cancer (which she beat in 2011) and now only a short time later has passed in her home surrounded by all of the people she loved.
Pam was born October 11, 1952, at Clay County Hospital in Flora, Illinois. Her family lived in nearby Louisville where she attended school from kindergarten through high school. After college, Pam moved to Flora and settled in to raise her family and lived there until her death.
Pam earned her bachelors in education at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston and later earned a Masters degree from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. Pam was employed by the Clay City, Illinois, school district as a high school level home economics teacher for 35 years.
She was united in marriage to Alan Huff on December 26, 1999, at the First Christian Church in Flora.
Pam was loved by many and liked by all. She touched countless lives over the years be it through teaching home economics at Clay City high school, leading a sewing class, instructing a cake decorating course, or spending time with the students involved in FCCLA. She loved spending time and connecting with the women in her quilting guild. She was proud of her garden and was chosen as yard of the month in July 2014. With her husband Alan, she acquired her ham radio license with the call letters K9HUF. She loved to sew and bake and her house always smelled of cakes, cinnamon rolls and homemade noodles.
Pam had a warm smile and a kind heart and would be there to give sound advice when ever needed. Pam was genuine, kind, patient and soft-hearted. She was strong and could always find the silver-lining in negative things. She was a fighter and fought hard to the end.
She could never sit still very long when she was healthy. Or even when she wasn't. She made multiple trips every year to visit her children in Wisconsin, Tennessee and California. She loved to be with her grandchildren and spoiled them with not just gifts but her love as well. She made quilts, blankets and dresses for them so they always will have something to remember her.
Pam will be missed by many.
She is survived by her husband, Alan Huff of Flora; 2 sons, Brian Dulaney and his wife Crystal of West Salem, WI; and Kyle Dulaney and his wife Jennifer of San Diego, CA; a daughter, Natasha Norton and her husband Chris of Maryville, TN; 5 stepchildren: Michael and Angie Huff of Oakland, Melissa Crutchfield of Clay City, Michelle Freezeland of Odin, Jessica and Ryan Elsila of Springfield, and Stephanie and Chuck Miller of Flora; 8 grandchildren and 11 step grandchildren; a sister, Annette Garrity & husband Bill of Clementon, NJ; and a sister-in-law, Janet Rhoades of Effingham.
Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Edna Belle Backs, and her brother, Dale E. “Sonny” Backs.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family encourages that donations be made to a scholarship in Pam’s name. Donations may be sent to: Frank & Bright Funeral Home, 500 N. Main St., Flora, IL 62839, telephone: 618.662.2141 or email: [email protected].
All are encouraged to pay their respects at a visitation on Saturday, July 9, from 4-8 p.m. at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, with Pastor Brad Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery, Louisville. Dear Family: PAM was not only a wonderful teacher and role model for her students, but was also a pillar of inspiration to the many younger teachers that served the students of Clay City, even for a short term. She was also a calming / stabilizing agent among here peers when things weren't going as smooth as one might wish. She leaves behind many, many loving husbands whose wives can cook supper and patch their work jeans because they had PAM HUFF for a teacher. Debbie and I are praying for your family.

I will always remember Pam with love in my heart for her. I admired her as the Mother I wanted to be. It was always evident how much she loved her children. It is so hard to believe that she has left us but she was a perfect example of a Christian Mother, a Christian wife and a strong Christian witness for the Lord.
She was a warm and gracious lady. Our prayer is God will comfort you at this time and wrap His loving arms around the family and give you peace.
My most sincere condolences to the family. Pam was a wonderful person. I knew her as a teacher, mentor, and most of all friend. I have cherished memories of her. She will be greatly missed, but she is in a better place, and resting in peace.
Thinking of you, Brian and your family. Prayers and hugs.
So sorry for lost. Prayers and best wishes to your family.
I was just wanted to express my deepest sympathy to Alan, Pam's entire family, and especially her sister Annette. I just learned of this sad news, I read the engaging biography on the web site and it so clear she will be sorely missed. After suffering a prolonged and very difficult illness, she was still far too young to lose. I hope your loving memories and the memory of her example will be some comfort to you. God bless. Ken Gill Rutgers Unviersity
We are so very sorry and saddened by the loss of your mother. She was a kind, warm, talented lady who has touched so many lives in such a wonderful way. We pray that God will comfort and strengthen the family as you face the difficult days ahead. God bless you.
First a teacher, then mentor, and always a friend. Mrs. Pam Huff encouraged and appreciated me always from drawing a little, or big, sketch for her, sewing something to help her out, or finishing decorating a cake , I was always proud to be called in from study hall or one of her classes to do extra duty. Later she would ask for me to sub in her classroom because she knew I "could handle the tasks." More recent years I would see her working in Petal Pushers or at a cancer walk. We could catch up quickly like not a day had passed since we had seen each other. I am sad she is no longer walking this earth but know she is in her heavenly home.
When we spent time at Grandma Summers house I never had a "same age" cousin to play with but I always had Pam. As we both got older and, miles separated us we seemed to only get to see each other during sad times that bring families together. As we each experience our own sad times it helps my heart know that Pam is now spending time with the ones we miss dearly. She gets to be with those she had to already say goodbye to and those she never got to meet. Your family here misses you dearly but the family there is enjoying you tremendously. Love to all.
