Betty M. Garrison, age 87, of Flora, Illinois, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday afternoon, November 3, 2016, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Betty was born April 27, 1929, in Flora, the daughter of John and Bertha (Leining) Lagle. She married Gilbert “Gib” Cecil Brown on August 2, 1947 in Morganfield, KY. He preceded her in death on May 23, 1968. She later married Robert R. Garrison on February 25, 1979 in Flora. He preceded her in death on July 9, 2003.
Betty loved the Lord and as a member of the First Christian Church in Flora and the Beau Knot Sunday School Class of the church, she would always be there to assist or offer to help when workers were needed. She worked for years at Sparton Manufacturing and was a past Flora Rotary Club member. Betty warmly welcomed friends, enjoyed traveling and being with them, and was proud of her past Elderwalk participation. She was a caring mother and grandmother.
Betty is survived by 3 sons: Herb Brown (wife Sue) of Xenia, Jerry Brown of Flora, and Bruce Brown (wife Barbara) of Flora; 2 grandchildren: Britt Brown (wife Suzanne) and Lisa Brown; 3 great-grandchildren; and a special friend who was like a son: Tony Rice (wife Kathy). She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; 3 brothers: Bill, Dean, and George; and 1 sister: Mary Ellen.
A funeral service for Betty Garrison will be 2 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorial donations in Betty’s memory may be given to CCMA Food Pantry or the Gary Bright Memorial Fund and they will be accepted at the funeral home.
Herb,Jerry, & BRUCE I am so sorry, Betty was my second mom , I remember so many good times we had together as kids an I know your mom an dad loved u boys so much she was a sweet lady an I know you will miss her I loved her to.
So sorry for your loss, Betty was a very classy lady with a heart of gold. Always enjoyed seeing her and visiting with her.

Thoughts are going out for Mrs. Betty Garrisons family and friends. Was neighbors and good friends of my grandparents at one time, the Winelands. Had a little visit back in 2014 with an Uncle and Aunt , seemed like a real classy person. Giving prayers and thoughts for the family.
Our neighborhood lost a great neighbor this week. We will all miss her smile and wave as we pass her house each day.

Bruce and all the family, so very sorry for your loss. Betty was one of our favorite ladies. We always enjoyed her smile and enjoyed talking to her. She was a great pencil pal for my grandson when he was in 4th grade.

Herb and family, Sorry to hear of your loss. I recently tried, with no success, to contact your mother. We were having an open house- 90th birthday party for my dad, Grover. He was friends with your parents.
I have so many fond memories of being in the Brown house as a child. My first motorcycle ride was with Gib. Bruce and I were always playing tricks on Betty. One day we put a play snake in a peanut butter jar and Betty opened in. Its a wonder she didnt skin us both!!! What a sweet,sweet lady! Over the years Betty was always a special friend to me and my mother. Heaven definitly gained a beautiful angel. So sorry to the family for their loss.
