Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Thursday, December 1, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home
Interment: Floral Garden of Memories
Ronald L. Hart, age 64, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday, November 27, 2016, at Clay County Hospital in Flora. He was President of the Clay City, Flora, Louisville, and Fairfield Banking Company.
Ron was born January 22, 1952, in Fresno, California, the son of Lawrence Orin and Terrah Marie (Gossett) Hart. He married Trudy Hanneken on July 12, 2003, in Olney.
Ron grew up and graduated from High School in Carpinteria, California, a small town just south of Santa Barbara. Ron enlisted and served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years beginning in 1971, including 3 years spent in Belgium, where his duties included tasks as a film technician. After the Air Force, he went to work in Hollywood as a film processor at Technicolor of Burbank, and later moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where he attended and received his bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Indiana University. He began his career in banking in St. Louis, and went on to roles of increasing responsibility at banks in Harrisburg, Alton, and finally the place he called his home, Flora. In 2000, he was named President of The Clay City Banking Company, and helped the single-branch organization grow to four locations. Ron was also very active with various organizations in the Flora and Clay County area, including Flora Industrial Commission, Clay City Banking Company Board of Directors, and was a former member of Clay County Hospital Endowment Foundation and Southeastern Illinois Counseling Center Board of Directors. Ron had a witty sense of humor. He loved to travel with Trudy, appreciated opportunities to pursue his lifelong interest in photography, and enjoyed music, especially spending time playing the guitar. His granddaughters were a most special joy in his life. Ron’s family takes comfort in the decision to share the gift of life with others through his organ and tissue donation through Gift of Hope.
Ron is survived by his wife: Trudy Hart of Flora; children: Erika Hart (Ray Perkins) of Belleville, Amy Hart of Independence, MO, and Travis Hostettler (Felicia) of Flora; 2 grandchildren: Mia Hart of Belleville and Presley Hostettler of Flora; 2 brothers: Donald R. Hart (David Lennon) of Los Angeles, CA, and Chris E. Hart (Robin) of Camarillo, CA; along with other members of the Hart and Hanneken families. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A funeral service for Ron Hart will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 2, 2016, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora. Interment will be in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery with the presentation of military honors. A visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home. Memorial donations are suggested for the benefit of a scholarship in Ron’s honor and will be accepted at the funeral home.
