George Wesley “Georgie” Roberts, age 46, of Carbondale, IL passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

George was born September 24, 1966 in Kankakee, IL to George Roberts Sr. and Shirley F. (Hawkins) Roberts. He married Chassidy Dawn Goad on July 30, 2011 in Olney. George was the most loving, caring, and generous man who loved his wife, his soul mate, with every fiber in his body. He was a wonderful cook and was a hard worker having worked in the construction industry most of his life. He loved his children and adopted any that knew him. George had a love for people and because of that love, he and Chassidy had an open door policy where no one ever had to worry about having a place to stay and they turned nobody away.

He is survived by his wife: Chassidy Dawn Roberts; children: Sheila Kay, Cherie Warnick Brown, Larry Owenby, Matthew and Becca Jobst, Adam Fishbourne, Stacy Sitesinger, Corey Holland, Sierra Owenby, Quenten Owenby; brothers and sisters: Chris Roberts, Todd (Christina) Wilson, Charles (Daphane) Estrella, Larry (Katrina) Craig, Bryan Wilcox, Sean Pitcher, Mike Chasey, Brenda Knapp, John (Regina) Parker, Roger and Joe Owenby, Daniel (April) Elder, Christa Hofford Rachelle Shubert, Billy Liston, Mike (Kathy) Holland; mother-in-law: Caroline Davis; sister-in-laws: Crystal Lutz, Elizabeth Reyes, Brandy Liston; brother-in-law: Robert Liston; 7 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, along with many honorary children. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A gathering of friends and family for a memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, August 3rd, at Olney City Park, Shelter V, 211 N. Ohio in Olney, with Luke O'Dell officiating. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish. Memorial donations may be given to Chassidy to assist with expenses. The Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora assisted the family with arrangements.
