Karen deWeese, age 63, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, July 25, 2017, at her home.
Karen was born September 3, 1953, in Iowa, the daughter of Rudolph and Margaret (Phelps) Blackstock. She married Stephen Christopher deWeese on September 3, 1971. Steve preceded her in death on October 18, 2002.
Karen was a caregiver for others throughout her life, and was a kind, compassionate person. She enjoyed playing bingo and visiting with friends.
She is survived by her longtime friend: Michael D. Johnson of Flora; 3 sisters: Sharon Myers, Pauline Strait, and Paula Blackstock; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and her good friends. She was preceded in death by a sister: Peggy Trevey; 2 brothers: Rudolph and Richard Blackstock; and a nephew: Jeffrey Blackstock, Jr.
Although no services will be held, you are invited to honor Karen’s memory with a friendly word and a smile for someone you see today, because that’s the simple kindness that reflects her spirit. Karen was one of the most loving, caring people that I have ever met. She went above and beyond the ordinary to care for and show her love to the residents in her care at the Pavilion while my mother was residing there. As one person put it, Heaven gained an angel this week. Rest in peace, sweet lady.....
