Marion J. (Bass) Conard, age 81, of Flora, Illinois passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at her home.
She was born June 11, 1936, in Flora, and was saved and baptized in October 1953. On October 30, 1955, Marion was united in marriage to Galen Conard at the Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church in Cisne. She has been a member of the church for many years, serving as a choir member, bus worker, and was a devoted Sunday School teacher. Marion was a homemaker and loved to read her Bible, sing, sew, gardening, crafts, and caring for her family.
She is survived by her husband: Galen Conard of Flora; 4 daughters: Brenda Simpson (John) of Fairfield, Lorie Freeman of McLean, VA, Cathy Draughn (Don) of Kannapolis, NC, and Gayla Smith of Ashland City, TN; 1 brother: Edgar Bass (the late Carol) of Wakeman, OH; son-in-law: Ernie Taylor (Tish) of Salem; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father: Everett Bass; her mother: Neva (Sanders) Harvey; and a daughter: Christina Taylor.
A funeral service for Marion Conard will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Cisne Cemetery. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. The family requests that memorial donations in Marion’s memory be made in honor of the work of Joy and Shane Davison with the Mediterranean Team (in France) and checks may be made to Blue Point Free Will Baptist Church. These donations will be accepted through the funeral home.
Galen and family, we are sorry for your loss. Marion was such a sweet lady, and I know that you will all miss her. Her struggles are over, all pain is gone, as she now with God. Remember all the good times, and find comfort in our Lord. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
I will certainly miss visiting with sweet Marion. Prayers for Galen and family during this difficult time.

Galen and children, We are so saddened to learn about Marion's passing. Russell and I were 1954 classmates with her in Flora High School and have enjoyed seeing her ever since. We remember her as a quiet, caring person, a true Christian example.
