Wilma L. Bullard Lowe, age 86, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday evening, October 21, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
She was born January 2, 1931, in Clay County, the daughter of the late Edgar L. and Pauline P. (Black) Bryan. She was united in marriage to Larry Grant Bullard on July 6, 1950, and he preceded her in death October 19, 1974. She had later been married to Philip Lowe, and he preceded her in death.
Wilma worked alongside her family on the farm for many years. She attended Round Prairie General Baptist Church in the past. Travel, if simply just a short drive, was something she enjoyed. Time spent with her family was important, and she looked forward to seeing relatives and attending get-togethers like the Bullard family reunion.
She is survived by 2 sons: Bryan G. Bullard (wife Kimberly) of Rinard, and Brent Bullard of Flora; 2 grandchildren: Jonathan Bullard (wife Lisa) and Jennifer Collins (husband Roger); 2 great-grandchildren: Stacie and Kylie; 3 step-great-grandchildren: Roger, Alyssa, and Nadia; a sister: Gale Birkes (husband—the late Bill) of Monahans, Texas; as well as a niece, in-laws, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to either the Heritage Woods Activity Fund or Clay County Hospice, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.

I loved Aunt Wilma's quick wit and how she never minced words. She was the salt of the earth and a beloved part of our family. Just when you thought you had her figured out, she surprised you...like when she was throwing down her dollars, ready to win at LCR! I also just told her a few months ago that my father-in-law still talks about how she flew here to our wedding, bringing the tiniest carry-on suitcase. He told her that she could travel with him anytime! I have such fond memories of fun days on her farm. She will forever be in our hearts. We wish we could be there to celebrate her life. Thoughts and prayers to Bryan, Brent, and the family.
