Graveside Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora
Robert Fields Shehorn, age 90, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
Robert was born September 20, 1927, in Wayne County, the son of Ogie and Hazel (Fields) Shehorn. He married Bernice “Bunny” Glaspy on August 15, 1950, and together they shared 57 years of marriage. She preceded him in death October 14, 2007.
Robert worked many years at Halliburton, Valley Steel, and retired from Sparton Manufacturing. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1947-1948. Robert was an avid bridge player and enjoyed genealogy, music, and was a St. Louis Cardinals fan.
He is survived by his children: Robert Kent Shehorn of Flora and Joy (Bob) Coble of Flora; grandchildren: Beth (Collin) Bullock, Megan (Lloyd) Young, Kate (Adam) Armstrong, Gwen (Nick) Dailey, Erin (Ty) Barr, and Tracy Coble; and 3 great-grandchildren: Evie Young, Malcolm Armstrong, and William Dailey. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; a son: Michael (Donna) Shehorn; and 2 sisters: Jean Shehorn and Doris Puttman.
A graveside service for Robert Shehorn will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2017, at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora, where interment will follow. Those attending should meet at the cemetery. Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be given to Meals On Wheels and will be accepted through the funeral home.

Sorry for your loss. I enjoyed talking to Bob when we worked together at Sparton's. I would talk to him when my mother was at Flora Garden Care Center too. My prayers go out to you, at this time.
The loss of a parent is never easy but our memories help with the pain. Your Dad was such a sweet man, always patient and kind when we delivered meals to him.
Robert was a gentleman from the old school. He was always very pleasant to work with. My condolences to the family.

We are sorry to hear of your father's passing. He kindly gave me some pictures he had acquired several years ago. He recognized them as my family. I was so thankful he thought of me, and I think of him every time I look at these pictures.

So sorry for your family’s loss. I always enjoyed my visits with your father and listening to his life stories of days gone by. He was always so proud of his kids and talked about you often and his wife . He had a smile that I will never forget. He was such a joy and will be missed by all who knew him.
