A visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. A graveside service will follow at St. Stephen Cemetery in Flora, where military honors will be presented. Those attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1 p.m. and follow in procession.
Elmo John Lane II, age 69, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at his home.
He was born October 21, 1948. His parents were the late Elmo John and Mary Corine (Smith) Lane. During his life he was united in marriage to Donna Hamilton, Debrah K. Doud, and Pam Bricker.
John grew up attending St. Stephen Catholic Church and School. He honorably served his country during Vietnam, entering the Army in 1969. He was employed by Valley Steel, Halliburton, and Kincaid Oil. John had served on the Flora Volunteer Fire Department, was a member of the Flora American Legion, and had been a member of Kiwanis. John loved his grandkids and his family, and enjoyed visiting with friends. He liked watching westerns on television, and following the Cardinals and Nascar.
He is survived by 3 children: John Craig Lane of Canton, Elizabeth Nicole Lane (Ray Stapp) and Pamela Bruno (Angelo) both of Branson, Missouri; and 7 grandchildren: Jakob C. Lane, Dylan S. Lane, Madison P. Lane, Presley N. Stapp, and Kali, Lecksi, and Miya DeRoboam. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister; and a daughter: Monica Dawn Phillips Lane.
A visitation will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to the local chapter of Disabled American Veterans, and will be accepted through the funeral home. Another classmate who will be missed at reunions. John has, and always will be, remembered as a very good friend!
So sorry to here we lost another one of our Halliburton buddies he was always a hoot to be around with all his coments and knowledge. RIP John Lane
What a great visit we had in November. We had no idea it would be the last. Rest in peace John. You will be missed.

John was a lifelong friend! I was able to visit John late in November along with another lifelong friend Jim Mc Carty. It was a afternoon filled with recalling memories from our past. John was truly one of the good guys. He will be missed by all that knew him.

Just told Stacey I hadn't called you since before the Holidays, needed to touch base with you. We worked together for several years for AK and enjoyed the talks. I hated that your health limited you so much these past years. Your laugh was contagious-you are going to be missed. Rest in peace-was a pleasure to know you.

We are so sorry for your loss! we will miss John. we have been next door neighbors since John moved in few years ago. him and the hubby would be outside talking many a night when the hubby would come in from work when the weather was nice. John was a good friend and neighbor and we will miss him!

I was saddened to hear of John's passing. He was such a caring man and I enjoyed my visits with him and Rocky. I had received a text from him just prior to Christmas wishing me luck as my family moves to Colorado. Prayers to your family during this difficult time.

Looking for my Aunt Betty Boyd Obit, I saw John had passed. My heart is with you. I went to grades school with John at Saint Stephen's School in Flora. How I miss my friends, and John was one of them. I saw a couple of familiar names from my childhood offering condolences. That is wonderful. Have peace.
