He is survived by his wife of forty-two years, Barb, and their children, daughter Elizabeth of Flora and son Robby of Olney; sister Patti O’Ryan of Salem; brother Jim (Aleta) Tackitt of Flora; mother in law Betty Eckelberry of Flora; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Margaret; brother Jack Pickel and wife Phyllis of Flora; sister Hattie Ruger and husband Jim of Flora; nephew Mark Ruger of Flora; nephew Roger Strange of Flora; and niece Yvette “Punkin” O’Ryan.

Barb, our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, Bob was a super guy.
The last time I saw and talked with Bob was at our high school reunion this past summer. He was, as always, "Bob" - full of life, stories, and a never ending smile. I recall asking him, "So when are you going to retire? Every time I pick up the local paper your picture is plastered all over it!" He grinned and said, "Soon I hope." That little conversation told me how much he loved what he did, and he was surrounded by people who appreciated him. I think if it was up to him he would have worked another 50 years. We went through grade school together, and we tried to keep in touch over the years in spite of life taking us to varied careers. But every time we would meet, his quick wit and smiles would make me feel comfortable exactly like we were - old friends. I, like all that new Bob, will miss him . . . one just expects good people to be around forever. To Barb and your family, my deepest condolences. Bob was a good friend and I will treasure his memory forever.
So sorry for your loss and may God help you all. He was such a nice guy.

You left to soon. You have done so many great things in life. The first time I saw you, I was a teenage boy. You gave me my driving test, i I was scared, you made me unscared and talk to me, Over the years I came to you with many problems at the dmv. You always smiled and went out of your way to make someone feel at home. The whole world will miss you.
Bob is one of the quiet, thoughtful people I learned to admire in life. Though I left Flora soon after we graduated HS together in 1967, Bob's influence on the community has been obvious. He will be missed. My condolences to his family and many friends.
