Gladys Aliene Pearce, age 95, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, February 9, 2018, at Heritage Woods of Flora.
Aliene was born November 5, 1922, in Wayne County, the daughter of Earl and Amy (Stanford) Davis. She married Harold W. Pearce on November 8, 1941, in Clay County, and together they shared 54 years of marriage. He preceded her in death February 17, 1996.
Aliene was a caring mother and grandmother who simply enjoyed life and was genuinely thankful. She enjoyed working with Harold on the farm and raising horses, and in recent years embraced her transition to Heritage Woods and appreciated the friends and neighbors she had there. Aliene was a member of Harmony United Methoidst Church. She had worked at the shoe factory, Roadmaster, and as a cook at The Pavilion.
She is survived by her children: Carolyn Berger of Effingham, Genelle (Steve) Beck of Olney, Gary (Nancy) Pearce of Flora, Sue Pearce of Springfield, Edie (Wade) Jones of Louisville, Fran Pearce of Sells, Arizona, Tim (Cheri) Pearce of Bridgeport, Ed Pearce of Carmi, and Steve (Norma) Pearce of Crossville; 15 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and another great-great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: William H. Pearce; a granddaughter: Jamie Sue Armstrong; 3 great-grandsons: Brock Berger, Christian Joel Branom, and Justin England; a son-in-law: Don Berger; 5 brothers: Clarence, Loren, Ray, Bill, and Don Davis; and an infant brother and an infant sister.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, officiated by Rev. Gary Pearce, assisted by Pastor Jill Bunker. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to either Harmony United Methodist Church or Meals On Wheels and these will be accepted through the funeral home.

Enjoyed visiting with Aliene at Heritage Woods, while my dad (Edwin Pearce ) was there. Had some good conversations with her. Nice lady. She will be missed. So sorry for your loss.

Sue and family. I just loved your mother she was the sweetest lady. The past several years she didn't remember my name but knew I went to school with Sue and that Tammy Martin was my daughter. I just say my first name and she would say the rest....she will be missed by so many. Hugs to all and know you are in my prayers. She is dancing on the streets of gold!

Aliens was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever know. I’m so glad I got to visit with her last summer and see her dear smiling face once more. I don’t remember ever seeing her when she wasn’t smiling. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. My thoughts and prayers are with all her precious family.

Oh how I loved to spend the night years ago with Edie and get to know Aliene! What a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. My deepest condolences to her family, I know Aliene was hugely loved and will be greatly missed. She was such a sweet, sweet lady and oh, how happy my dad was when she moved to Heritage Woods! Family! What a loss on this earth, but celebration in Heaven. Love to all.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. But I know it is Heaven's gain! It was truly my pleasure to get to know and care for Ms Aliene during her time at Heritage Woods. She was always so sweet and kind. Always smiling even when you knew she was in pain. She was truly a blessing to everyone who knew her.
"Grandma Pearce" was always such a sweet, kind person and I feel so blessed to have known her. She is truly an angel now and reunited with my precious Brock . . .may your memories and knowing that she is happy and whole again bring peace and comfort to her family during this time.
So sorry to hear of the passing of "the best neighbor we ever had." When we would call her or she would call us, we would both say, "hi neighbor!" What a sweet woman! Always a smile on her face and I never heard her say anything negative about anyone. BUT a great reunion is coming as she definitely loved the Lord. We will see her again!

My deepest condolences and prayers to the family. I always recall Aliene as a quiet, helpful, generous lady...from the time growing up as neighbors (across the fields) and the day she so warmly and proudly gave Kim and me a tour of her room at Heritage Woods. She always had a smile on her face whenever I saw her. She will be missed tremendously, but she's smiling down on all her loved ones now...a guardian angel for her family.
