Wanda Jean Wathan, age 84, of Flora, Illinois, and former resident of Xenia, passed away Monday evening, February 12, 2018, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
Wanda was born November 22, 1933, in Xenia, the daughter of Jesse A. and Myrtle Francis (Dean) Holloway. She married James N. Wathan Sr. on November 25, 1949, in Shelby County. He preceded her in death June 4, 1988.
Wanda worked at the shoe factory and was also employed at C.E.F.S. for 12 years. She loved her kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids. Wanda enjoyed visiting with friends and playing Bingo, and had many fond memories of enjoying music, singing, and dancing. She was a long-time member of Xenia Christian Church and in the more recent years enjoyed attending services at the nursing home.
Wanda is survived by her children: Dianna Woomer (Melvin) of Flora, Kathy Colclasure (Ed) of York, SC, Cheri James of Flora, and James N. “Jim” Wathan Jr. of Flora; 7 grandchildren: Misty (Mark) Hubble, Adam (Olivia) Woomer, Scott Colclasure, Jamie (Rodney) Weaver, Jennifer (Chad) Oliver, Jesse (Christine) James, and Jordan Wathan; 10 great-grandchildren: Brenden, Brayden, and Braxden Hubble, Logan, Lee, and Keagan Weaver, Elijah and Joseph Oliver, and Kyrsten and Carson James; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 4 siblings: Eber “Red” Holloway, Helen Mays, Dorothy Mays, and Katie Stanford.
A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Flora Gardens Activity Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
