Douglas E. King, age 61, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at his home.
Doug was born September 13, 1956, in Flora, the son of Francis “Frank” and Nancy Mae (Greenwood) King. He was married to Louise Merritt. Doug was a graduate of Flora High School and attended college at Olney Central College. He worked throughout his life, which included employments at Orscheln’s, Xenia Manufacturing, and Schutt Sports in Salem. His favorite past times included fishing, following the St. Louis Cardinals, and watching college basketball and football.
He is survived by his father: Frank King of Xenia; daughter: Jonni King of Xenia; son: Nate King of Xenia; and a brother: Nick (Joyce) King of Kell. He was preceded in death by his mother; maternal grandparents: Grover and Bessie Greenwood; and paternal grandmother: Edith King.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Xenia. Visitation will be held Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the family to assist with expenses.

Doug was one of my Xenia Grade School classmates. He was a good guy and I remember he was always a lot of fun to be around. My prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
