Charles William Jones, age 90, of Flora, Illinois, and a former resident of Rinard, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 15, 2018, at Flora Gardens Care Center in Flora.
He was born January 31, 1928, in Wayne County, the son of Johnnie and Edna (McGrew) Jones. Charles married Nadine Kelley of Cisne, who was the mother of his three children. He later married Gladys Shehorn on November 5, 1975, in Rinard, and they have shared 42 years together.
Charles reminisced about working out west when he was young. He worked for 17 years at Valley Steel and JenMar, and also farmed, spent time in the oil fields and worked in construction. He was a union member. He enjoyed classic country music, reading westerns, and was especially proud of taking special care of his lawn.
He is survived by his wife: Gladys Jones of Flora; a daughter Gini A. (Steven) Olesky of Franklin, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren: Leigha (Eden) Ramos and Lewis Blades; 2 great-grandchildren: Michael and Amelia Ramos; a brother: Paul Dean (Nancy) Jones of Villa Grove; and a sister: Delorous (Don) Tackett of Salem. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Nadine Jones; a daughter: Teresa A. Jones; a son: Wade B. Jones; and a brother: Lyle Eugene Jones.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Bunker Cemetery, Rinard. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Gina, so sorry to hear the loss of your dad. He was a great man. I baby sitted with your sister and brother before you was borned. Cherish your wonderful moments of your dad Gladys you also had a wonderful husband. Charles was our neighbor when I lived in Rinard growing up. I'm sure you have many wonderful memories. Prayers and hugs. Sorry for your loss.
So sorry to hear of Charley passing, that is what I knew him by. He was best friends with my mom and dad, knew him since I was a child, they often visited us. Prayers for the family ,
