Barbara J. Dunnigan, age 82, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
Barbara was born January 13, 1936, in Wayne County, the daughter of Charles Edgar and Esther V. (Hadley) Grove. She was united in marriage to Richard Eugene Dunnigan in September 1959, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Flora, and together they shared 58 years of marriage. He preceded her in death January 9, 2018.
Barbara helped Richard operate R.E. Dunnigan Electrical Service with taking care of all of the administrative work. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 56 years. She was of the Christian faith and had attended First Christian Church with her family in the past. Barbara was a caring wife and mother, enjoyed cooking and preparing many meals for her family over the years, and enjoyed reading and doing word puzzles.
She is survived by two sons: Mark Dunnigan and Darin (Krystal) Dunnigan both of Flora; a grandson: Jarin (Ashley) Dunnigan; a granddaughter: Janae Dunnigan; two great-grandchildren: Jazlyn and Isaac; a brother: Jim (Linda) Grove of Flora; a brother-in-law: Carroll Simpson of Howell, Michigan; along with nieces, nephews, and several special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one sister: Kathryn Simpson; and three brothers: Charles Grove, E.L. “Bud” Grove, and Truman Grove.
A funeral service will be at 12 Noon Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, with visitation from 11 a.m. until service time on Saturday. Pastor Mike LeMay will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Memorial donations are suggested to Flora American Legion Auxiliary and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
Mark, Darin, & Family: Growing up in Flora, we have LOTS of memories of your family from being one-block-away neighbors. Your mom was always sweet to me and my brother, and your dad was always nice to us, too. We are so sorry for your loss. Please know fond memories will never fade, & your mom is missed.
