Maretta Mathis

 

Maretta Mathis, age 68, of Louisville, Illinois, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018, in Urbana.

Maretta was born March 27, 1950, the daughter of Rev. J. L. and Delia Claudean (Downing) Mathis.

Maretta was a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville where she participated in many volunteer activities. She looked forward to attending the Annual Fall Festival for the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi each year, enjoyed playing the piano, reading her bible, and spending time with family and friends. In the past she worked at a daycare and DeSoto Paint Manufacturing.

She is survived by her mother: Claudean Mathis of Effingham; 2 nephews: Josh Mathis and Tim Mathis both of Louisville, and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her father; 2 brothers: Tom (Sharon) Mathis and Jim Mathis; and an infant sister: LaDonna.

A funeral service will be 12 noon Saturday, May 26, 2018, at First Baptist Church of Louisville. Interment will follow in Orchard Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. Memorial donations are suggested to First Baptist Church of Louisville or Baptist Children’s Home & Family Services in Carmi.
