Visitation: 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home and 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Saturday
Interment: Hoosier Prairie Cemetery
Carl Wayne Cox, age 86, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Wednesday morning, September 19, 2018, at Terre Haute Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.
He was born August 2, 1932 in Clay County, Illinois to Chlorus E. and Anna Margaret (Rinehart) Cox, the third born son of seven boys. He married Marilyn Hostettler on December 10, 1954 at Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church with Arthur Warren Phillips officiating and Dannie Cox and Joyce Hostettler as witnesses. They have celebrated 63 wedding anniversaries together.
Carl served in the US Army in Korea from 1952-1954. He worked at Hayes & Smith John Deere Implements and later owned Agri-Mart John Deere with his brothers Charles and Larry. He spent many hours farming. He was a faithful servant for God and a member of Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Marilyn Cox; daughter: Nancy (Randy) Hardy and their children Scott (Miranda) Hardy, with daughters Hazel and Harlow, Laura (Andy) VanAusdall with daughter Cameran Riley, and Bradley Hardy; daughter: Sandy (Brian) Gansauer and their children Kyle (Stephanie) Gansauer with daughter Kinsley and son Zachary, Kayla Gansauer (Grant Reed); son: Darrell (Dawn) Cox and their children Abby and Curtis Cox; daughter: Carla (Travis) Hildebrand and their children Jessie (Ryan) Wallis, with sons Riley and Samuel, and daughter Saige Wallis, Cole (Megan) Hildebrand; brothers: Charles (Mildred) Cox, Dannie (Eunice) Cox, and C.J. (Gloria) Cox; sister-in-law: Janice Cox Garry; brothers-in-law: Kenny (Evelyn) Hostettler and Garry Hostettler; sisters-in-law: Joyce Stockwell and Eva Hostettler; many, many nieces and nephews and their families whom he loved and enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Chlorus Cox and Maggie Cox Dyson; step-father: Frank Dyson; mother and father-in-law: Harold and Marguerite Hostettler; brothers: Merle Dean, Neil Ray, and Larry Cox; brothers-in-law: Ronnie Hostettler and Buddy Stockwell.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, September 22, 2018, at Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church in Louisville with Kelly Carruthers officiating. Interment will follow in Hoosier Prairie Cemetery with the presentation of military honors. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, September 21, 2018 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora and 10 a.m. Saturday until time of service at the church. Memorial donations are suggested to Hoosier Prairie Baptist Church Scholarship Fund and will be accepted through the funeral home.

So sorry to hear of the passing of this wonderful man . Spent many days at work talking gardening with Darrell .He always had to tell me about his Dad's garden. I know he will truly missed by his friends & family. May you find comfort in the memories .

I have so many fond memories of sleepovers at Nancy's. Carl was always so much fun. He loved his family and I know how much he will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Prayers of comfort are with you.
