Robert Lee Swagger, age 89, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Monday, October 15, 2018, at his home.
Bob was born January 14, 1929, in Jasper County, the son of Arthur S. and Zona (Doty) Swagger.
Bob always took an interest in cars and was a longtime mechanic. He owned and operated a gas station for many years. He worked at Pit Stop Car Wash, formerly Dirt Busters Car Wash, since it opened in 1999 and enjoyed talking with people and helping out with whatever he could.
He is survived by a daughter: Pamela L. (Larry) Northrop of Flora; a son: Robert L. Swagger Jr. of South Elgin; two step-daughters: Jill Conard of Louisville, and Julie (Doug) Corridori of Vandalia; 8 grandchildren; a brother: Gene Swagger of Tennessee; a sister: Elinor (John) Hadden of Olney; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; former wife: Donna (Whitt) Swagger; and his companion: Sharon McConnell.
A memorial visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial Donations are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.

It broke my heart when I heard about Bob's passing. Bob always had a smile on his face when he greeted me at the car wash. I always looked forward to seeing him and talking to him. Prayers for his family.
I'm at a lost for words he was such a great man. He always treated me awesome when I came 2 the car wash. I always made sure clean any mess I made prayers for the family

I really enjoyed talking with Bob when I went to wash my car. I liked it when he talked about the old days and how times have changed. I'll truly miss him.

I remember when Bob worked for my sister and brother in law when they owned Amaco/standard gas station. He always had something funny to say. He was a riot. Very nice guy who is going to be missed by a lot of people.
