Graveside Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Elmwood Cemetery
Wanda Jean (Alderson) Staley, age 92, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Thursday morning, October 25, 2018, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
She was born February 17, 1926, in Flora, the daughter of Norman and Frances (Lane) Alderson. She married James T. Staley on May 8, 1952, in Flora, and they shared 47 years of marriage prior to his death on January 28, 2000.
Wanda will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who looked forward to opportunities to see her grandchildren and share in their band, choral, and theatre performances. She enjoyed visiting and talking with others, especially during frequent occasions to join friends at coffee spots where proud updates about the grandkids were commonly exchanged, or where she might reveal some of the most recent deals she discovered while watching QVC. Over the years, Wanda worked at the International Shoe Company, Sparton Manufacturing, Flora City Hall, Flora Savings & Loan, and Clay Medical Center, and she would often accompany Jim to Masonic and Shriner events.
Wanda is survived by a daughter: Stephanie Bartholomew of Mendota; a grandson: Alex Bartholomew of Dallas, Texas; a granddaughter: Ashley Bartholomew of Atlanta, Georgia; a sister: Wilma Williams and husband Jim of Duncan, Oklahoma; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 2 brothers: S. E. Alderson and Jack Alderson.
A graveside memorial service officiated by Russell Anderson will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, November 1, 2018, at Elmwood Cemetery, where interment will follow. Those attending are requested to come directly to the cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to any charity of the donor’s choice, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.

I had the honor of working with your Mom at the Flora Savings & Loan thru my senior year of high school in 1975. She was always there to explain how things worked and so helpful. I will always be in debt to her helping me to understand things in the financial world. So sorry for your loss.
