Linda Gail Manring, age 60, of Flora, Illinois, died Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

She was born in the family home on August 12, 1958, the daughter of William G. and Agnes Darlene (Perry) Leathers.  She was united in marriage to Dan William Manring on August 21, 1976, in Cisne.  They shared 31 years of marriage until his death December 12, 2007.

Linda was a 1976 graduate of West Aurora High School.  She was owner and publisher of Flora’s “Hometown Journal” for over 20 years, and was actively involved in supporting the local communities through her service to civic organizations and volunteering her time and resources.  She had been a past member of Oak Street Baptist Church.  Linda was an avid crocheter and enjoyed reading, and her spirit was soaring when she shared time with her family, especially 6 very special ones who will always know her only by her most cherished name, “Grandma.”

She is survived by 2 daughters: Holly Barnes of Sellersville, PA, and Heather (Tad) Nohren of Shelbyville; 6 grandchildren:  Janelle, Cassie, and Alex Barnes, and Ellie, Katie, and Natalie Nohren; 3 sisters: Diane Classert of Flora, Leota (Ed) Baum of Texico, and Darla (Bob) Beach of Dix; 1 brother: David (Deborah) Leathers of Ft. Collins, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother: Denny R. Leathers; a brother-in-law: Warren Classert; and a nephew: Rodney Classert.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2018, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.  Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit www.frankandbright.com.

So saddened to learn this. Some of my favorite memories of a workplace were of working with Linda, Penny and Bill at the Hometown Journal. What fun we had, especially sitting around Bill's desk in the evening right before we left to head home. Hopefully the three of them are now reunited and sharing some laughs now. She was a lovely lady and will be greatly missed. My sympathy to her family and many friends.
