I send my condolence to Ellen's loved ones. I didn't know Ellen, but I think I am related to her. If so, our nearest common ancestor would be Charles Tyler Smith, a union army soldier in the Civil War I am pretty sure. He was my great grandfather. One of my classmates was Dale Edward Smith. We were both in the FHS Class of 1950, two years older than Ellen. I have a wonderful first cousin named Jean Ellen Smith Wilkins who was head librarian for the State of Illinois. I have lived in Texas since 1950, but all of my clan's roots on both sides are in Clay County. Edward R. Smith, [email protected]
I am so very sorry for your loss. I do remember her in the OB Ward at the Historic Old Clay County Hospital. We were lucky to have her and all the great doctors that passed through that hospital. When babies were born in Clay County!!! How awesome that was. Sometimes new is not allows better.
My prayers are with you as you experience your loss. May God comfort you.
