Daniel E. Harned, age 68, of Flora, IL passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at his home in Flora.

Daniel was born in Clay County on September 25, 1944 to Joe Bill and Faun (Grogan) Harned. He married Lu Allen on June 8, 1963 in Xenia. Daniel was a faithful follower of Christ. He had worked as a welder at Caterpillar and Big Four in Clay City and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife: Lu Harned of Flora; 2 sons: Doug E. (Sherrie) Harned of New Douglas and Mark (Donna) Harned of Flora; 2 sisters: Doris (Jerry) Griffith of Florida and Donna (Scott) Hargis of Flora; and 8 grandchildren: Mariah Harned, Isabella Harned, Luke Harned, Vincent Harned, Joseph Harned, Jeremiah Harned, David Harned, and Eliza Harned. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service for Daniel Harned will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Floral Garden of Memories in Flora. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Clay County Hospice. Frank & Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
