Evelyn B. Myers, age 81, of Flora, IL passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Monday, April 15, 2013 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Evelyn was born February 6, 1932 in Flora to William E. and Evelyn (Davis) Klein. She married Kenneth Myers on October 14, 1950 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Flora. Evelyn was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Catholic Church serving as choir director for 56 years and was a member of St. Ann’s Altar Society. She also shared her love of music by teaching piano for over 50 years. Evelyn was a faithful servant of the Lord and for 40 years was dedicated to prayer through her weekly Holy Hours of Devotion. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, cooking, camping, gardening and she also had a wonderful sense of humor. She always looked forward to the yearly camping trips with the family where they enjoyed playing games and cards.

She is survived by her husband: Kenneth Myers of Flora; children: Terry (Carolyn) Myers of Flora, Sharon (Kevin) Anfield, of Danville, Debbie (Darrell) Gummert of Flora, Diane (Bobby) Briscoe of Flora, Danny (Maria) Myers of Westfield, IN; 12 grandchildren: Tamara (Jim) Malebranche, Jeremy Myers, Nathan Myers, Melissa (Tony) Markiewicz, Mandy (Jan) Thompson, Ashlee Upton, Michael Upton, Samantha Briscoe, Savannah Myers, Aaron Myers, Joshua Myers, Jordan Myers; 3 great-grandchildren: Landon Thompson, Sydney Dawkins, Giuliana Upton, and Baby Markiewicz on the way; 2 brothers: Gerald A. Klein of Flora, William E. (Emma) Klein of Flora; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents (William and Evelyn Klein), a daughter (Connie Myers), a grandchild (Collin Michael Myers), a brother and his wife (Don and Marie Klein), and a sister-in-law (Pat Klein).

The funeral mass for Evelyn Myers will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Flora. Burial will follow in St. Stephen’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 19, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with a 7:45 p.m. Rosary. Memorials may be in the form of masses or donations to St. Ann’s Altar Society.
