Vietta Marie (Leach) Bunker of Clay City, Illinois, formerly of Mazon, passed away Monday morning, July 8, 2019 at Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center surrounded by her loved ones.
Vietta was born June 27, 1947, in Morris, the daughter of Howard “Red” and Edith “Bun” (Poppleton) Leach. Growing up in Mazon, she graduated from Mazon High School with the class of 1965. For many years she ran a daycare out of her home taking care of many area children in the process. Later, she opened the Craft Mall Plus in Mazon which was a small gift and craft shop. She did this with the help of her friend Jane Bilsborough, cousin Curt Leach, and of course her sister Bonnie Petersen. She spent many years crafting and visiting with those who came in.
She is survived by her two sons: Kenneth W. (Jill) Bunker of Clay City, and Kevin L. (Alexandra) Bunker of Joliet; three grandchildren: Tori (Rory) Ellis of Mazon, Tyler (Cheyenne) Bunker of Louisville, and Joshua Bunker of Joliet; and two great-grandchildren: Gracelyn Bunker and Elijah Bunker both of Louisville. Also, one special, close to her heart niece: Tina (Bill) Atkinson of Morris; two nephews: Bobby (Kelly Weber) Petersen of Mazon, and Jason Petersen of Iowa; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and her beloved sister: Bonnie (Leach) Petersen and brother-in-law: Robert Petersen.
She was an avid crafter of most everything during her life, and also loved TLC network on TV and Facebook. Most of all, she was a special woman who will be missed by many.
A Celebration of Life for Vietta Bunker will be 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Clay City United Methodist Church; and 4 until 6 p.m. Friday, July 19, 2019, at Verona United Methodist Church.
