Orville Glen Hatcher, age 75, of Flora, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday night, August 7, 2019, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney.
Glen was born October 7, 1943, in Walland, Tennessee, the son of Benton and Mary Kate (Ledbetter) Hatcher. He married Sandra Pennington on August 15, 1975, in Flora, and they shared 43 wonderful years together.
Glen worked for many years as a truck driver servicing oil field production, and also hauling grain for Satch Briscoe. His family has many memories of camping, fishing, and taking vacations together to the Smoky Mountains. Glen enjoyed visiting the coffee shop and attending auctions, and especially taking rides with his grand-dog, Macy.
He is survived by his wife: Sandra Hatcher of Flora; 7 children: Cathy Williams (Kyle Wheeler) of Flora, Phyllis Pearce (Dan Kaufmann) of Flora, Carrie Hatcher of Flora, Mary (Scott) Reynolds of Effingham, Jim (Darlene) Hatcher of Cisne, Jeff (Kelly) Hatcher of Cisne, and Crystal Bailey of Cisne; 13 grandchildren: Jarin Pearce, Andrew Pearce, Mekenzie Wheeler, Devin Williams, Jeremy Hagen, Thomas Lewis, Lexi Hatcher, James McCracken, Tyler & Tom Hatcher, Jessie Hatcher, Andy & Johnna Bailey; several great-grandchildren; and 1 sister: Lois Fritz of Knoxville, Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 daughters: Glenda and Sandy Hatcher, two brothers: Leonard “Shorty” Hatcher and Johnny Hatcher.
A funeral service for Glen Hatcher will be 11 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2019, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Bro. Jeff Hough will officiate. Memorial donations may be given to the family to assist with expenses.
