Vernal L. Roush, age 85, formerly of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, April 10, 2020, at Avon Health & Rehabilitation Center in Avon, Indiana.
She was born June 9, 1934, in Flora, the daughter of Verdie A. and Mamie F. (Cox) Coble. Vernal married George Kenneth Roush on April 18, 1954, in Flora, and they shared 59 years of marriage together. Kenny passed away September 24, 2013.
Vernal was a very outgoing, loving person who greeted everyone with a smile. A lifelong resident of Flora, she was blessed with many friends young and old. For many years she and Kenny wintered in Rockport, Texas, where they met people from all around the country. Her family and her friends were treasures in her life. She enjoyed picnics, playing golf, DAR, her sorority, and many church and community activities. Vernal especially loved her family, reading, and listening to Gospel music.
Vernal is survived by her daughter: Kimberly Ranson (husband Steve) of Hazelwood, Indiana; daughter-in-law: Janet Willey (husband John) of Hazelwood, Indiana; 2 grandsons: Chad Ranson (wife Abbi) and Aaron Ranson (wife Leigh); 5 great-grandchildren: Bella and Molly Ranson, and Lily, Harper, and Silas Ranson; 4 sisters: Frances A. Anderson (husband George), Wilma L. Hongsermeier, Judith Morris (husband Don), and Joan Melton (husband Bob); and sister-in-law: Nancy Coble; as well many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son: Gregory Roush; a granddaughter: Amber Ranson; and a brother: Vernon Arthur Coble.
A private funeral ceremony will be held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Steve Ranson officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery. To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com

Sorry for your loss. Vernal was a beautiful lady, went to church with her for many years, saw her at Curves 3 times a week as we exercised. Mike used to babysit for her. Prayers of comfort for all the family.
I worked with Vernal as a fellow court reporter and she also worked with my dad when he was a judge. She was very well respected in her job, but more importantly she was such a sweet, lovely lady. I extend my sympathy to her family.
So very sorry to hear about Vernal. She was so beautiful, inside and out. She was always so supportive of us when we were at Oil Belt Camp. Always willing to help do anything. One of our favorites in Flora. Hugs and prayers for peace and comfort.

Kim, so sorry that your Mom passed. Remember us all growing up in the south end . As a matter of fact, I just told someone the other day about the huge oak tree that fell in their bedroom back when I was around 8 or 9. They were at church when it happened. I always remembered that. I am sure you remember. Sure thought a lot of your Mom and Dad. Take care !! God Bless !!

Kim, So sorry to hear of the passing of your mother.Many good memories of times at the Roush house during our Flora High School years. Those highly competitive ping pong games and the many ice cold Cokes after football practice just to name a few. God Bless you and your family during this most difficult time.
Vernal was a very special loving, caring person. I'm so sorry to hear of her death but know she is in a much better place now.

Edna Sebring- I am so sorry to hear of Vernal's passing. She was a friend to all of who knew her, including me. But I know she dearly loved the Lord, and we'll all meet again some day, in God's glorious home. My sympathy to Kim, and all the family.
Just found out. So Sorry. We would always stop to see her when we were in Flora. Respected her entire family. A dear Christian friend.
