Patti O'Ryan

Nov 6th, 1946 - Apr 30th, 2020

A private graveside ceremony and interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.

Patti Sue (Tackitt) O'Ryan, age 73, of Salem, Illinois, and formerly of Flora, passed away Thursday evening, April 30, 2020, at Salem Township Hospital.

She was born November 6, 1946, in Flora, Illinois, the daughter of Harvey Robert Tackitt Sr. and Margaret (Henson) Tackitt.

Patti worked as a cosmetologist from her home beauty shop for 30 years.  She later worked and retired from Hella Electronics after 15 years.  Her daughters and grandkids were truly the most important part of her life and she cherished time spent with them.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Melissa (Manny) Ramirez of Alton and Morgan (Bud) Mulvany of Salem; 6 grandchildren: Reese Jones, Drew Jones, Sage Jones, Tori Mulvany, Huck Mulvany, and Nash Mulvany; 2 great-grandchildren: Kensleigh June Hess and Kash Wade Hess; a brother: Jim (Aleta) Tackitt of Flora; a sister-in-law: Barb Tackitt of Maine; and several nieces and nephews including Vicki Strange and Jeff (Marti) Ruger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter: Yvette “Punkin” Denise O’Ryan in 1975; 2 brothers:  Bob Tackitt and Jack (Phyllis) Pickel; sister: Hattie (Jim) Ruger; and 2 nephews: Mark Ruger and Roger Strange.

A private graveside ceremony and interment will take place in Elmwood Cemetery.  Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Memorial donations are suggested to a love fund in Patti’s memory for the family and these will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a condolence or memory, visit: www.frankandbright.com

Morgan and Missie, I was so shocked and saddened this morning when I heard about your Mom. I am so very sorry for your loss. We were distant cousins. She gave me the best haircuts ever and throughout my life when going to a new stylist I would always tell them I wanted a cut like Patti gave. I just recently found a stylist who uses a razor. Your Mom laughed when I told her it had only taken me over 40 years to find one who could give a cut comparable to hers! She was so proud of you girls and her grandchildren. My heart hurts for all of you, yet I feel joy that she is reunited with Punkin. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Godspeed on your journey dearest Patti.

My deepest sympathies to Patti’s family. She was a friend from our earliest school days at Lincoln. She was a year ahead of me but we sometimes sat together on the school bus. The last time we visited in person, at length, was many years ago, the day I got married and moved away from Flora. She styled my hair for my wedding — a beautiful updo. I loved keeping in touch with her in recent years on Facebook. I loved how devoted she was to her family and how she always had kind things to say in response to her friends’ Facebook posts. Her loss leaves this works a little darker but I’m so glad she now is reunited with her precious daughter.

I already miss Patti on FB. We were friends with Punkin and My son starting school together And Patti cutting my hair. I always enjoyed her company. The last years since right before she left Texas, we discovered each other on the internet and became friends again, dropping notes every few days. I enjoy our fun friendship. It’s so sad to think of renewing an old friendship of the younger and older women that are so like-able. We discussed Heaven, and I believe she is celebrating with our Heavenly Father, and with her family and her precious Punkin❣️ She loved her children and grands. And, I for one will think of her so often and I hope she dances ❣️

I first met Patti on facebook when she lived in Texas. She lived in the Pan Handle & I live in East Texas but I felt like I had family there although I was closer to Patti when she lived in Illinois than in Texas. She was a sweet lady and I was happy for her when she got to move back home to Ill. I met her in person one time in Flora. I am glad to have called her "my friend". My condolence to the family. I will always remember her.
