Graveside Ceremony: 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Xenia, where interment will follow. Those wishing to attend may come directly to the cemetery and follow social distancing recommendations.
Thelma Elaine Wyman, age 88, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Friday afternoon, May 29, 2020, at Flora Gardens Care Center.
Elaine was born October 7, 1931, in Rector, Arkansas, the daughter of Artie and Esther (Wilson) Garrett. She was united in marriage to Dorse “Coon” Wyman on November 11, 1962, in Carlyle. He preceded her in death on November 26, 2003.
Elaine loved the time she spent tending to her garden and flowers. She was a member of the Xenia Community Church.
She is survived by 2 sons: Lonnie (Linda) Ward of Xenia and Larry Ward of Olney; 1 stepdaughter: Phyllis (Kenneth) Hill of Ohio; a very special grandson and great-grandson: Randy and Xander Ward of Xenia; 3 step-grandsons: Todd, Stacy, and Tracy Hill; 3 great-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; 1 brother: Duane Garrett of Paragould, Arkansas; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 2 sons: Leonard Ray Ward and Troy Wyman; 1 brother: William “Bill” Garrett; and 4 sisters: Geneva Fletcher, Rosella Canady, Velma Jean Gibbs, and Euvona Bishop.
A graveside ceremony honoring the life of Elaine Wyman will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Xenia, where interment will follow. Those wishing to attend may come directly to the cemetery and follow social distancing recommendations. Pastor Bruce Horsley will officiate. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Memorial donations are suggested to the Clay County Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry, and these will be accepted through the funeral home. Such a special woman. Enjoyed the many times I stopped by to chat and see all the many plants and flowers she could grow. I'm sure not many could out work her. My condolences.
Such a wonderful lady that I was blessed to know. I have so many great memories of Elaine and she will be missed. The family will be in our prayers.

A special aunt with many talents. She loved flowers, gardening and cookin special food. She will missed by family and friends. I visited with her when I went to Illinois to spend time with family and friends.
So sorry to learn of Elaine's passing. In the few years we were neighbors I got to know her as we shared a love of flowers. She gave me many and in my whole life, never saw a woman that was such a hard worker. From morning till night she worked in her beautiful yard and gardens. She was a joy to know and a wonderful neighbor. My sympathies to Lonnie & Linda, Larry and all the family.
Rest In Peace. Thanks for all the good meals after a long day of hunting with Troy. The canned vegetable juice you made will never be matched. God bless.
