David Paul Wasmundt Sr., age 89, of Flora, Illinois, passed away early Monday morning, June 22, 2020, at his home.
He was born July 6, 1930, in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, the son of Louis Max and Selma (Galleau) Wasmundt. He was united in marriage to Grace Davis on October 21, 1950, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and together they have shared 69 years of marriage.
David worked for American Motors in Wisconsin and later worked for Humphrey’s in the Springfield area doing deliveries and working in the freezers. He also worked in construction doing remodeling work throughout the years. He was a member of Faith Tabernacle Church in Flora. David lived a Christian life of refraining from harsh and cross words and truly loved to worship God.
He is survived by his wife: Grace Wasmundt of Flora; children: Ruth Marie (Clarence) Jones of Flora, Mary Louise (Stephen) Tanderup of East Northport, NY, William Wesley (Kristy) Wasmundt of Springfield, and Karen (Darrell) Eckelberry of Flora; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a brother: John Wasmundt of Racine, WI; a sister: Margaret Sieboldt of WA; and many nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: David Paul Wasmundt Jr.; 3 brothers: Louis Wasmundt, Robert Wasmundt, and Andrew Wasmundt; and 4 sisters: Leona Delamatter, Florence Robinson, Faith Lee, and Dorothy Wagar.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 26, 2020, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Pastor Allen Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Faith Tabernacle Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.
