Marie Payne

Marie Grace Payne, age 96, of Flora, IL passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at the Flora Health Care Center in Flora.

She was born on November 15, 1916 in Richland County, IL to Everett and Neva (Wilson) Allison. She was married to Byron Freukes, Edward “Cam” McBride, and Russell Payne who all preceded her in death.

Marie was well known for her handcrafts that she made, having an eye for color and style. She also loved sewing for family and friends, making everything from rag dolls to wedding gowns. In later years she made many beautiful baby quilts. She also enjoyed crocheting and a good game of pinochle.

Marie is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Bo) Koskie of Flora; a son, Keith (Linda) Freukes of Seaman, OH; a daughter, Jan Kelly of Jeromesville, OH; 1 grandson: Mark (Tracy) Freukes; 2 granddaughters: Marci (Mike) Genthe, Betsey (John) Money; 2 great-granddaughters: Jenna (Jason) Zimmerman, Drew Ann Freukes; and 1 great-grandson: A.J. Money. She was preceded in death by her parents, all 3 husbands, 2 brothers (Richard and Harry Allison), and 2 sisters (Betty Spiker and Wilma Fulfer).

Private services will be held for Marie Payne with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Xenia. The Frank & Bright Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the CCMA Food Pantry or to the Xenia United Methodist Church.
