Tom Vincent

   Thomas “Tom” Avery Vincent, age 84, of Xenia, Illinois, passed away Monday, November 30, 2020, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana.

   He was born March 14, 1936, in Iola, the son of Alfred William and  Bessie (Broom) Vincent.  He was united in marriage to Margaret Rose Anderson on June 5, 1955, in Kinmundy, Illinois, and together they shared 57 years of marriage until her death October 7, 2012.

   Tom proudly served in the U.S. Army.  He worked for Knapp Oil Company as a fuel transport driver for 36 years, farmed part time with his brother-in-law and father-in-law, and later drove a school bus for Linder Bus Service for several years.  In the past he had served on the Songer Township Board, the County Board, and as a Precinct Committeeman.  He was a member of Meacham Baptist Church.  Tom loved traveling, enjoyed his garden, especially his tomatoes, and his mornings visiting at Knapp’s.  He loved his family dearly and always kept up on his grandkids and what was going on in their lives.

   He is survived by his children: Rick (Connie) Vincent of Iuka, Randy (Valerie) Vincent of Xenia, and Lisa (Vernon) Quandt of Iuka; grandchildren: Derick (Becky) Vincent of Iuka, Tyler (Angela) Vincent of Salem, Kyleigh Vincent of Newburgh, Indiana, Becca (Logan) Hertenstein of Flora, Brandon (Bethany) Quandt of Iuka, Briana Quandt of Chicago, and Lacey Quandt of Iuka; great-grandchildren: Riley, Regan, Max, Will, Annie, Ellie, Amelia, Otto, and Elias; a brother: Frank Vincent of Montverde, Florida; sister-in-law: Virginia (Eddie) Lamb of Xenia; and special friend: Carolyn McDonald of Olney.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and siblings: William Alfred and Betty.

   A funeral ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, December 6, 2020, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.  Interment will follow in Oskaloosa Cemetery with the presentation of military funeral honors.  Visitation will be 12 noon until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorial donations are suggested to Meacham Baptist Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.  To share a memory or condolence visit: www.frankandbright.com
