Feb 18th, 1917 - Dec 15th, 2020Gladys F. Hamilton, age 103, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center.
She was born February 18, 1917, in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Robert Lee and Mable (Passmore) Bowen. She was united in marriage to Rodell Theodore Hargis and he preceded her in death December 13, 1978. She later married Clintie Eugene Hamilton and he preceded her in death November 7, 1993.
Gladys worked at the shoe factory, Four Sisters Manufacturing, and was a Nurses Aide. She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church in Flora.
She is survived by a son: Franklin “Frank” (Norma) Hargis of Flora; 3 grandchildren: Rebecca (Keith) Belcher of McLeansboro, Randy (Lisa) Hargis of Flora, and Scott (Donna) Hargis of Flora; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 step-great-grandchild; and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; 2 brothers: Carl and Ralph Bowen; and 6 sisters: Mildred Yonaka, Thelma Altadona, Margie Haeber, Genevieve Pauline Lewis, Audrey Blacksher, and Helen Gibson.
Private interment will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, Flora. Arrangements are in the care of Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.
