James E. "Jim" Fleener, 89, of Louisville, IL died at 11:31 AM Monday, December 20, 2010 at Good Samaritan RHC in Mt. Vernon, IL. He was born April 7, 1921 in Clay County, IL to Thomas E. & Mabel Agnes (Quinn) Fleener. He married Charlotte Kathryn Specht on November 23, 1946 in Flora, IL. Jim was a carpenter and area farmer, and also worked for Best Homes in Effingham, IL and Sam Mink Construction. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served in the Phillipines and Japan, and his memberships included the following: St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Flora, Louisville American Legion Post #914, Flora VFW Post #3999, past member of Knights of Columbus, past Hoosier Township Trustee, past Louisville School Board member, past Precinct Committeeman and former Clay County Democratic Party Chairman. Jim enjoyed woodworking, carpentering, and watching wrestling. He is survived by his wife: Kathryn Fleener of Louisville; children: James A. Fleener & wife Diana of Louisville, Stephen T. Fleener & wife Sherry of Louisville, and Janet K. Fehrenbacher & husband Neal of Flora; brother: John L. Fleener & wife Beverly of Bowling Green, KY; 11 grandchildren & 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday (December 23, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Father Martin-Edward Ohajunwa officiating. Burial will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville, with military honors. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Wednesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.
