Stephen “Steve” D. Dudzik, age 67, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2021, at his home.
He was born April 22, 1954, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Stephen D. and Mary (Filip) Dudzik.
Steve was raised in Lockport and was a graduate of Lockport High School. He first worked at Xenia Manufacturing and then M&M Pump & Supply after moving to Clay County. He then worked as a school janitor at Washington Grade School, Xenia Elementary School, and the new Flora Elementary School until his retirement in 2018. The children at the school were fond of Steve, often referring to him as “Super Steve.” He enjoyed working with children, time spent fishing, and gardening.
He is survived by his daughter: Rachel Dudzik of New Lenox; longtime companion: Debbie Frohling of Flora; sister: Darlene (John) Homerding of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a nephew: Mark (Joyce) Homerding; a niece: Mariann (Stacy) Homerding; and several great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
