Thelma Louise Tadlock, age 97, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Monday morning, July 5, 2021, at Clay County Hospital.
She was born February 4, 1924, in Louisville, Illinois, the daughter of John M. and Ethel Mae (Bible) Tolbert. She was first united in marriage to Eugene Weiler and he preceded her in death in 1963. In 1965, she married Clovis C. Hoskins and he preceded her in death in 1972. She later married Charles J. Tadlock on June 14, 1974, and together they have shared 47 wedding anniversaries.
Thelma had worked at Clay County State Bank and later for Clay Electric, retiring after 42 years. She was a longtime member of First Christian Church in Flora. She enjoyed reading, bowling, eating out, traveling, and winters spent in Florida for 16 years. She was an amazing cook, one of the best around. Her family was very important to her, and she cherished the time spent with them.
She is survived by her husband: Charles J. Tadlock of Flora; a daughter: Patsy Lou (Jim) Conley of Effingham; and 2 grandsons: Andrew Conley (fiancé Sloane Engle) of Marshall, and Aaron Conley of Charleston.
She was preceded in death by siblings: Beulah Bates, Pearl Tolbert, Rolla Tolbert, Dorothy Tolbert, and Virginia Tolbert.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. until time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to First Christian Church and will be accepted through the funeral home.
