Bill Dwain Phillips, age 72, of Xenia, IL died at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at his home in Xenia.

Bill was born April 30, 1940 in Marion County, IL to Walter E. and Mary Ellen (Pittman) Phillips. He married Jo Ann Anderson on May 29, 1958 in Xenia. She preceded him in death on January 26, 1996. He later married Ruth Swain on March 24, 1997. She recently preceded him in death on January 11, 2013.

Bill worked as a shipping supervisor for World Color Press in Effingham for 30 years, retiring in 2002 and was a member of New Hope Christian Church in Xenia. He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed spending time at his cabin, was an enthusiast of Antique Ford motor vehicles, a fan of NASCAR’s Mark Martin, and enjoyed country music, especially George Jones. He also enjoyed tending his beef cattle and feeding braunschweiger to his faithful companion “Ralphie”. Most of all Bill cherished his beloved family and gave them each special nicknames.

He is survived by children: Tina (husband Ben) Golden of Xenia, Sherry Lee (husband Troy) Porter of Louisville, Jane (husband Brent) Harris of Xenia, Jacque (husband Randy) Ferguson of Flora, Jennie (husband Scott) Collier of Marshall, Jeff Forth of Rockwood; a sister: Dona Johnston of Kinmundy; along with 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives, one daughter (Tammy Lou Phillips), and a brother (Robert McHenry).

The funeral service for Bill Phillips will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 10, 2013 at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with visitation from 1 PM until time of service on Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Oskaloosa Cemetery, Xenia. Memorial donations may be given to that of the donor’s choice.
