Jean Pruitt
Nov 14th, 1937 - Aug 20th, 2021Jean Pruitt, age 83, of Flora, Illinois passed away Friday afternoon, August 20, 2021, at her home.
She was born November 14, 1937, in Streator, the daughter of Willis F. and Mary L. (Vojtko) Wantland. She was united in marriage to Roy E. “Bunny” Pruitt in 1964, and he preceded her in death December 9, 1984.
Jean was lovingly referred to as “Grammy” by her kids and grandkids. She will be remembered as a very generous person who would give the shirt off her back to someone in need. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, puzzles, games, and could really play a mean hand of cards. She cherished time spent with her family, grandkids, great-grandkids, and her pet Chihuahua “Ornery.” She also appreciated the dedication of her longtime caregiver, Jennifer Hurd.
She is survived by her children: Ron Gragert of North Carolina, Debbie Gragert of Fairfield, Diane Persinger of Flora, Nelson (Angie) Pruitt of Xenia, Clyde (Tracy) Pruitt of Flora, Ruth Hunt of Flora, and Dave (Jackie) Pruitt of Olney; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son: Ernest Gragert; and a son-in-law: Farrell “Bud” Hunt.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Bunker Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon until time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to a meal that will be served at the Flora Eagles following the cemetery committal.
