Anna "Betty" Mason
Jan 13th, 1916 - Jan 30th, 2013Anna E. “Betty” Mason, age 97 of Flora, IL died at 8:04 p.m. on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Clay County Hospital in Flora.
She was born on January 13, 1916 in Pike County, IN to Mell and Teresa Gertrude (Troxler) Catt. She married Ralph E. Mason on September 4, 1934 in Petersburg, IN. He preceded her in death on December 26, 1967. Betty worked for 11 years at Flora International Shoe, was a 50 year member of Eastern Star, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Flora and the Golden Links Sunday School Class of the church. She liked to travel and enjoyed visiting family more than anything.
She is survived by 2 sons: Bob (Shirley) Mason of Flora, Jerry (Carole) Mason of Colorado Springs, CO; a daughter: Teresa (Randy) Bayler of Clay City; 1 sister: Frances (John) Stolting of Vincennes, IN; 3 brothers: Melvin Catt of Bicknell, IN, Joe (Anita) Catt of Westphalia, IN, Floyd (Laura) Catt of Greenwood, IN; 6 grandchildren: Heather (Ron) Sellers of Birmingham, AL, Darron Mason of Bakersfield, CA, Dr. Derek Mason of New York, NY, Dustin (Melissa) Bayler of Noble, Brianna (Kirk) Wilson of West York, Alex (Chelsey Botkin) Bayler of Olney; a step-grandchild: Terry (Angie) Burkett; 4 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, 4 step-great-grandchildren, and 14 step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a daughter and son-in-law (Ann and Bill O’Donnell), 3 sisters (Leona Mounts, Mable Catt, Mary Jane Gustafson), 2 brothers (Anthony and Robert Catt), 3 grandchildren, and 1 step-great-grandchild.
The funeral service for Anna “Betty” Mason will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Dr. Donald Bunnell officiating. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. (Noon) till 2 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. The family has suggested that memorial donations be made to the Flora Public Library.
