Jean Frances Carver, age 86, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Sunday morning, January 9, 2022, at her home.
She was born December 6, 1935, in Todd County, Kentucky, the daughter of Omen and Ible (Edwards) Slaughter. She was united in marriage to Clarence Ray “C.R.” Carver on December 13, 1954, in Muhlenberg County, Kentucky, and they shared 60 wedding anniversaries together until his passing on February 16, 2015.
She was a loving wife and mother and truly enjoyed seeing and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean had worked as a teacher’s assistant in special education in Mt. Vernon, and she was of the Christian faith.
She is survived by her children: Denise (Mike) Wood of Flora, and Eric (Kathy) Carver of Palatine; grandchildren: Rory (Kaci) O’Dell, Mina Wood, Alan (Lucretia) Wood, Will Wood, John Carver, and Lauren Carver; great-grandchildren: Jett O’Dell, Ayla O’Dell, and Adaline Wood; sister: Phyllis Dunn (Ken Tulin) of Anchorage, Alaska; sister-in-law: Pat (Gene) Slaughter Walker of Congerville; 4 nieces: Kathy Smith of Tennessee, Jo Ann King of Savoy, Donna Miller of Villa Grove, and Theresa Waddell of Farmer City; 3 nephews: Michael Slaughter of Congerville, Dan Dunn of Yukon, Canada, and Kris Dunn of Anchorage, Alaska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother: Billy Slaughter; and her beloved cat Jessie.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022, at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Interment will follow in Floral Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 until 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, January 15, at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Hospice or the Flora Rehabilitation & Health Care Center Activity Fund and will be accepted through the funeral home.
