Earl E. Milone, age 94, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Tuesday morning, January 18, 2022, at Clay County Hospital.
He was born June 4, 1927, in rural Claremont, Richland County, a son of the late Roscoe Guy and Lucy Ann (Nettleton) Milone. Earl was united in marriage to Eunice (Coble) Nicholson in 1968, and she preceded him in passing on November 30, 2010. On May 13, 2013, he married Brenda (Wallace) Krutsinger.
Earl was inducted into service in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II, and was stationed in Japan. He began a long career with Halliburton beginning in 1950, and was the proprietor of Earl’s Gun Shop in Flora. He was a member of the Flora American Legion and the NRA. Earl enjoyed hunting, and kept a collection of vintage tractors over the years that he took great pride in spending time working on.
Earl is survived by his wife: Brenda Milone of Flora; children: Priscilla (David) Disher of Bluffton, South Carolina, Julie (Mark) Steimel of Hawesville, Kentucky, and Gary (Lisa) Milone of Olney; stepchildren: Jerry (Dottie) Nicholson of Xenia, Randy (Sherrie) Owens of Troy, Alabama, and Brad Owens of New Hudson, Michigan; a sister: Alice Nicholson of Decatur; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter: Mary Eaton; and 4 sisters and 3 brothers.
A graveside ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022, at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora with the presentation of military funeral honors. Don Wallace will officiate. Those attending are asked to arrive directly at the cemetery. Arrangements are by Frank & Bright Funeral Home.
