Evelyn Marie Eash, also known as “Evie”, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the age of 93 years old at NorthPointe Healthcare Center in Fresno, California. Evie had lived in Fresno and Bass Lake California for many years to be close to her family.
Evie was a homemaker and formerly lived in Flora and Clay City, Illinois with her husband Charles “Chuck” Eash, who was the former plant manager of Anaconda and Southwire Company in Flora. While living in Flora, Evie would often be seen driving her favorite red Rambler convertible with the top down tooting her horn at anyone she would see. Evie never met a stranger and was a talkative friend and regular member and supporter (along with her husband Chuck) of the local Elks, American Legion, VFW, Moose and Eagles Lodges and Organizations in Flora. After her husband passed away Evie decided to move to Fresno to live and be close to her only daughter Vicki and her two granddaughters Jodi and Dawn and their families. Evie became an active member of God’s Family Church in Fresno and was baptized in March 1996. Evie lived with Vicki until December 2009 when she was diagnosed with advanced Alzheimer’s and was then cared for at the Elim Care Homes in Fresno.
Evelyn is survived by her two granddaughters: Jodi Wong and her husband Richard, Dawn Wallace and her husband Bob; her great-grandchildren: Adam (his wife Brooke), Brian and Sarah Wong; and her great-great-granddaughters: Emmersyn Wong and Madelyn Marie Wong. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws: Alice Sutherlin and Marion Jessup; her niece: Patricia Fowler; and nephews: Ernie, Steve and David Sutherlin. Evie also has many loved great nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband (Charles Dean Eash), her daughter (Vicki Jo Jennings), 3 brothers (Leon, Loyd and George Sutherlin), and 2 nieces (Kay Thompson and Deann Johnson).
